There is a
new prototype version of the tanglescanner available. It can be operated autonomously – no heavy laptop or 110V/220V power line necessary.
It can be powered by a powerbank and connect via wifi to a mobile phone hotspot.
Scanned barcodes will be visible on the tangle (IOTA blockchain) within seconds.
We put a
LCD display on top of it so the scanned barcodes will be shown on it.

The handheld classic barcode scanner (could be a cash-register one etc.) is connected via USB to the tanglescanner.

I have been invited to give a presentation of the tanglescanner at the codecamp blockchain developers trend in 2018 event in Bangkok. Thank you Desmond and Pong for inviting me as a speaker.
It has been an interesting audience of around 100 blockchain developers.
After the presentation I did some live demos of scanning barcodes directly into the blockchain / tangle.
There has been a solid interest in the tanglescanner and we discussed about use cases like scanning goods during an ordering process or adding data to the blockchain using IoT devices.
IOTA is a very good solution for nano and micro transactions – no transaction fees and no need to transport a value during the transaction.
Due to the architecture of IOTA there are no scaling problems – the more transactions are processed – the faster they will be confirmed.

Today I gave a the first public demonstration of the #tanglescanner.
It was during a small IOTA meetup in Bangkok in the Black Swan.
We had not enough light so the video is a bit dark sometimes – sorry for that.
